Flexi Fish

The term "Flexi Fish" is not a standard scientific or common name for a specific species of fish; rather, it typically describes the inherent physical characteristic of most fish, which possess a highly flexible spine and body structure. This anatomical design, with a backbone that is strong yet flexible, allows fish to contract muscles on either side of their bodies to generate undulating, S-shaped movements. This undulation pushes against the water to create thrust, enabling them to swim efficiently and maneuver through aquatic environments. The flexibility is essential for locomotion, balance, and rapid changes in direction, highlighting a key adaptation for life underwater. Some fish, such as eels (anguilliform group), are extremely flexible, while high-speed swimmers like tuna (thunniform group) are stiffer, concentrating most of their movement in the tail. The overlapping scales and a layer of mucus further aid this movement by reducing friction (drag) with the water.
