Benchy

A Benchy (short for "benchmark") is a small, 3D-printed tugboat model designed specifically as a diagnostic and calibration tool for 3D printers. Created in 2015 by Creative Tools, it has become the most universally recognized and printed object in the 3D printing community. The model is intentionally designed with complex geometric features—including precise overhangs, smooth curves, small holes, fine surface details, and specific dimensional measurements—that challenge a 3D printer's capabilities. Makers print the Benchy to assess and fine-tune their printer settings, test new filaments, and troubleshoot common issues like stringing, layer shifting, poor bed adhesion, or cooling problems.
